Longitudinal Aging Study Amsterdam: ORA In-Care project

Longitudinal Aging Study Amsterdam: ORA In-Care project

This is a long-term study into the functioning of older people in the Dutch population. Since 1992, the study inventories the physical, cognitive, social and emotional functioning of the elderly every three years. I am responsible for the data collected on care use and care provision by the elderly.

We collect data on the provision of informal care to others (e.g. partner, children, family, neighbours), and data on who they receive help with five types of tasks. The latter questions provide information about the composition of the care network of the elderly. With the LASA data, both trends in care use and care provision can be studied (cohort comparison), as well as developments in care use and care provision during old age (longitudinal design).
